Applications for 2024-2025 UCLA Visiting Graduate Researcher Now Open.
Yanai Initiative for Globalizing Japanese Humanities invites graduate students in Japanese humanities fields to apply to come to UCLA as Visiting Graduate Researchers (VGR for short) during the 2024-2025 academic year. The Yanai Initiative will accept two VGRs from Waseda University, each spending spend one ten-week quarter pursuing short-term doctoral research; participating in graduate seminars; attending lectures and other academic or cultural events; and socializing with students and faculty, including other visitors. VGRs will be affiliated with the UCLA Department of Asian Languages & Cultures.
Applicants must be degree-seeking graduate students at their home institution, and who plan to return to their degree programs at the conclusion of the VGR experience. Prior experience living in English-speaking environments is not necessary for VGRs.
