Toward the Fall Quarter/Semester 2022
A message from the President
September 22, 2022
Dear Students of Waseda University,
I send you warm greetings as we begin the Fall Quarter/Semester on September 28, 2022.
It is my pleasure to announce that as of September 21, 2022, Waseda University decided to relax our rules concerning parties and other student gatherings. Thank you for your patience over the long haul.
Although we wish that we could have announced this news in July, before your summer holidays, we regret that we could not do that due to the fast and widespread spike in COVID-19 infections then.
We, faculty and staff, have been carefully considering the timing of this relaxation since the Spring Semester. Finally, the time seems right.
Nonetheless, we ask that you do your best to protect yourselves from being infected with the virus and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 further. As the University announced on September 20, we continue to ask you to eat meals without talking and to finish eating before you put on your mask again and start chatting and drinking with your friends. This manner will prevent the spread of COVID-19.
We trust that you will keep controlling yourselves, and we sincerely hope that you will be able to enjoy a return to normal student life as soon as possible.
Have a nice Fall Quarter/Semester!
Best wishes,
Aiji Tanaka, President
Waseda University
