University-wide agreement concluded between Oxford and Waseda
On April 17, a university-wide agreement was concluded between the University of Oxford and Waseda University to strengthen collaboration in research and education in the fields of computer science, mathematics, and physics.
Waseda has collaborated with Oxford in research in various fields for some time, but they were on an individual faculty basis. While seeking to promote further research exchange at an institutional level, the Oxford and Waseda has decided to conclude this university-wide agreement specializing in research exchange.
Based on this agreement, research and academic exchange on a greater scale, such as the mutual exchange of researchers and graduate students as well as the development of research projects, will become possible.
It has also been agreed that discussions will be held to expand the scope of research exchange beyond the three fields, and Waseda aims to further develop exchange between the two universities.
In 2016, Waseda opened an office in Brussels, Belgium as a research base in Europe. Although research exchange with many European universities have already progressed, the conclusion of a university-wide agreement with the University of Oxford will further accelerate research exchange that Waseda has promoted in Europe.
