I grew up with Japanese culture and learned Japanese before I came to Waseda. I also knew Waseda University was one of the best universities in Japan. With this in mind, along with my desire to improve and eventually master the Japanese language, I decided to apply to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Japanese students are very friendly and approachable, and I made friends immediately. The international student body is very culturally diverse, which I really enjoy. My area of study is applied physics with a focus on soil mechanics and soil quality. The professors are very open and helpful, and as a result of my positive experiences so far, I am strongly considering continuing my graduate studies here at Waseda.
