Waseda University’s Memorial Hall (Building 37) was built in 1957 to commemorate the university’s 75th anniversary. The hall has become a landmark among students where entrance and graduation ceremonies, sports events, classes, Homecoming Festivals, and Waseda-Keio matches are held. The hall was also used for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics fencing competition and was visited by the current Emperor and Empress. The Japanese Olympic Committee even designated the hall as a national sports facility. Beginning in August, the hall will undergo reconstruction and to commemorate this occasion, various sports teams and circles are organizing the “Sayonara Memorial Hall Event” to be held from June to the beginning of August. We encourage everyone to stop by the historical landmark one last time.
