Over 700 international students graduate at 2015 graduation ceremonies
Fri, Apr 3, 2015Graduation ceremonies were held from March 25-26 at the Memorial Hall on Toyama Campus.
Among the 12,245 graduates were 9,147 Bachelor’s Degree students, 49 graduates from the Art and Architecture School, 2,171 Master’s Degree students, 680 Professional Degree Students, and 198 Ph.D. students (179 credit-track students and 19 thesis-track students).
Among the 757 international graduates were 270 Bachelor’s Degree students, 393 Master’s Degree students, 40 Professional Degree Students, and 54 Ph.D. students.
President Kamata congratulated students and presented them with their diplomas. Students and groups that displayed excellence in academics, the arts, sports, or other areas were awarded the Azusa Ono Memorial Award.
In the second ceremony, kabuki actor Nakamura Kichiemon II was presented with the Award for Distinguished Service to Art. Nakamura congratulated graduates, referencing Stenhal’s own epitaph, “he lived, wrote, loved,” and encouraged students to accomplish their goals and live a compassionate life.
