81% of undergraduate classes have a classroom size of 50 students or less

81% of Waseda University’s undergraduate classes have a classroom size of 50 students or less. Furthermore, 43% of classes have a classroom size of 20 students or less.

Waseda’s “mammoth classes” are a thing of the past. Classes appear dramatically different from those 20 to 40 years ago.
Classes are discussion based and emphasize interactivity. Included are English language classes with a maximum classroom size of 4 students available to all students.
The long term goal of Waseda Vision 150 is for 50% of undergraduate courses to have a maximum class size of 20 students when the University welcomes its 150th year anniversary in 2032.
In regards to Waseda University’s graduate schools, 98% of classes have a classroom size of 50 students or less and 84% are 20 students or less.
