Individual instruction, group study sessions, and 24-hour computer rooms

Waseda University has many areas that support students in their studies and where students can discuss with peers, receive individual instruction, and access 24-hour computer rooms. We encourage students to take advantage of these facilities and use them to assist with their studies.

Building No. 3’s study rooms are open until late at night

Writing Center

Building No. 3, 2nd Floor

Open weekdays from 10:40 to 17:15

Students receive individual instruction on academic writing including support for reports and theses.  Writing centers are located on the Waseda Campus, the Nishi-Waseda Campus, the Tokorozawa Campus, and in TWins, Tokyo Women’s Medical University and Waseda University’s Joint Institution for Advanced Biomedical Sciences.

Math and Stat Center

Building No. 3, 2nd Floor

Students enrolled in the online course, “Fundamental Mathematics Plus” and “Statistics Literacy” receive support via email, BBS, and face-to-face instruction.

 *Only students enrolled in mathematics or statistics courses operated by the Global Education Center (GEC) can receive instruction.

Open weekdays from 10:00 to 21:00 and Saturdays from 10:00 to 18:00

Students work in groups and practice giving presentations.

 Please register at the W Space Counter to use facilities. Reservations can be made up to one month in advance.

CTLT Classroom 1/2/3

Building No. 3, 2nd Floor

This classroom is designed for courses that promote discussion and identifying and solving problems. Desks and chairs are movable and a white board is available for use in group work and discussions. The classroom also features a full range of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) devices including automatic recorders and computers. The remote TV conference system is used for joint classes with other campuses and affiliated overseas universities.

Open weekdays from 12:00 to 17:00, closes at 16:00 during school holiday periods

Students receive information and consultation about studying abroad. No reservations are required. Advisors share their personal experiences studying abroad in the “Free Discussion Space” event held every summer and autumn. Students can learn about affiliated overseas universities and read about students’ personal experiences.

Waseda International Learning Lounge (WILL)

Building No. 22, 3rd Floor

Normally open from 8:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and Saturdays

WILL was established to promote group study sessions, independent study, and research exchange among individuals of different nationalities, languages, departments, and positions. Waseda Nihongo Support is offered in conjunction with WILL and supports studies and research in Japanese language and cultures. The lounge is sometimes used as a space for free discussion while students eat and drink.

Learning Zone, Seminar Room A, B, C

Building No. 18, Central Library, 2nd & 3rd Floor

Open from 9:00 to 21:50 on weekdays and Saturdays and from 10:00 to 16:50 on Sundays

The Central Library includes quiet areas as well as spaces where students can participate in group study sessions. Reservations are not required and students can use any available facilities. The library also holds seminars on how to search for materials.

Computer Room

B1 Floor, Building No.22

Available 24-hours a day, this computer room is ideal for students who wish to study at night or meet assignment deadlines. The computer room on B1 of Building No. 22 has been open nearly year-round since 1998. The room is often used among students and sometimes all 145 computers are occupied during daytime hours.

Waseda University Faculty Lounge, Group Learning Zone

Building No. 7, 1st Floor

Open from 9:00 to 22:00; closes at 19:30 during summer, winter and spring vacation

This space is used to facilitate discussion among academic staff and overseas researchers. Facilities include a meeting room which can accommodate 48 people and a discussion space. Located in the center of campus, this space is bustling with activity, particularly between classes.

Open from 9:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, from 9:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays during the semester, and 9:00 to 18:00 on weekdays between semesters

Computer Room on B1 of Building No. 22

Three rooms, 8 person capacity

Used for group work or practicing presentations. Please register at the Student IT Consultation Booth located inside the computer room on B1 of Building No. 22. Reservations are only accepted for same-day use.

A variety of other facilities are also available. For further details, please refer to the List of Group Study Rooms (posted by Portal Office).
