In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018, Waseda University sees an overall improvement in the number of subjects that made it to world’s top 50, from three subjects in 2017 to four this year. The following subjects are the ones that made it to global top 50: (1) Modern Languages, (2) Mineral & Mining, (3) Sports-related Subjects and (4) Politics & International Studies.
In total, Waseda University is also ranked in the top 200 in 24 subjects (of the 26 subjects ranked) out of the 48 disciplines analyzed by QS, taking up third place in terms of Japanese university with the highest number of subjects ranked in the global top 200. This is in a tie with Osaka University after the University of Tokyo (41 subjects) and Kyoto University (34 subjects). Consequently, Waseda University is the top performing private university in Japan in this ranking.
The University will continue to make necessary reforms and work with researchers around the world to enhance its global research impact.
