縮小する都市の持続可能な未来：人口減少世界における都市計画の再定義
人口減少の危機が世界中を席巻する中、地方自治体は機能しない時代遅れの「成長至上主義（growth-at-all-costs）」の戦略に貴重な資源を浪費しています。私の研究は、「人口が減少する中で、地域社会はどのように繁栄できるのか？」という大胆な問いを立てています。終わりのない再成長という不可能な追求から脱却し、本プロジェクトは人口減少に特化して設計された、エビデンスに基づく持続可能な都市計画フレームワークを開発します。成長中心のモデルからの移行を成功させた日本の先駆的な自治体でのフィールドワークに基づき、持続可能な林業、循環型経済、住民主導の開発といった地域に根ざした戦略を活用し、縮小する都市がいかにして高い生活の質を維持できるかを調査します。最終的に、これらの地域の成功例を、実行可能で世界的に応用できる実践的指針（プレイブック）へと落とし込みます。本研究の目標は、21世紀の都市計画を再定義し、人口減少に直面する都市が不可欠なサービスを維持し、地域の幸福度を高め、強靭（レジリエント）な未来を確保できるようにすることです。
