Top 5 for May 2025! Library & Waseda Health Association, Verbalization Techniques, Curry - Selected by Waseda University Student Readers

Waseda Weekly publishes a variety of articles, including "Focus," which features various on-campus systems, facilities, events, and points to be aware of, "People," which introduces students who are active both on and off campus, as well as articles about Alumnus and Professor, alumni and student club active in various fields, and even stories of studying abroad and solutions to everyday problems.

We have also introduced a Waseda University student reader monitor system, where articles are rated weekly. Each article is rated from 1 to 5 stars, and we receive feedback, both positive and negative, which we use to create better articles. This time, we will introduce the articles published between May 1, 2025 and May 30, 2025, in order of highest reader monitor rating, along with actual comments!

1. < Focus > Make the most of Waseda! Special feature on libraries and the Student Health Promotion Mutual Aid Association
(Released May 7, 2025)

There were many things I didn't know, such as the library stamp rally and the 100 yen breakfast, and I think I'll be able to use them in my future student life. I didn't know that the National Museum of Nature and Science was free, so I think I'll be able to make the most of my weekends. (1st year, School of Commerce)

I've been attending university for four years, and I didn't even know that the library had a fourth floor, so I was really surprised. This is the best article I've ever read. (Fourth-year School of Education)

2. < My Waseda Cuisine > Authentic curry at an exceptional price - A taste of the bounty of Ibuki Island, Setouchi (released May 23, 2025)

It was the first time I had heard of this restaurant. The curry in the photo looked delicious, and I really wanted to try the kind of curry you can't get at home. I was also impressed and grateful that they have set such reasonable prices, even in a world where prices are so high. I was very happy. I'll definitely go back next time. (1st year School of Sport Sciences)

Waseda graduates treat me to Waseda meals after graduation, and I myself continue to visit Waseda, which made me feel the tradition of Waseda. There are many university campuses between Takadanobaba and Waseda, but there is a "Waseda-like" atmosphere. I felt the long history that Waseda University has built up. (1st year, School of Social Sciences)

3. < Special Issue >How to Express Yourself in Heartwarming Words: Don't be too sophisticated! Keep your antenna up! (Published May 19, 2025)

"Your own scent in words is important, and deodorizing is a waste," the sense of word choice and the idea behind it were novel and impressive, but I found it convincing. I was also impressed by the fact that it is important not only to increase your vocabulary but also to be able to edit it and use it effectively. (1st year School of Law)

This may sound very rude, but it would be a shame if this article only appeared in Waseda Weekly. I want more people to know about it. It felt like an idea that came out of nowhere, and it made me realize I still have a lot to learn. It was interesting!! (3rd year School of Social Sciences)

How to verbalize in a way that resonates with the heart: Don't be so sophisticated! Keep your antenna up!

4. < Focus >Your support at Jingu Stadium will be a source of strength! The Waseda-Keio University Baseball Game will be held on May 31st (Sat) and June 1st (Sun)(Published May 26, 2025)

It was great to be able to see interviews not only with the players, but also with the Waseda-Keio Supporters' Association and the cheering squad. I also hadn't heard of student club Waseda-Keio Supporters' Association, so it was good to learn about it. I always thought the Waseda-Keio game was just about baseball, so I was surprised to hear that there were student club performances. Due to scheduling conflicts, I wasn't able to go this spring, but I would definitely like to go if I have the chance. (1st year School of Law)

As someone who loves watching baseball and has been to the stadium many times, I think it's truly amazing how players perform energetically while being watched by so many spectators. I was particularly impressed by their mental strength, which allowed them to perform at their best without showing any signs of nervousness (although they may not have been nervous in the first place) during the Waseda-Keio game, which is an especially high level of attention. I would like to emulate this example. I also thought it was great that this article detailed the activities of the Waseda-Keio Game Support Association and the Cheerleading Club. I was impressed by how they are considering how to entertain the audience, keeping in mind that the audience is different from the usual demographic. At the next Waseda-Keio game, I would like to pay attention to both the field and the stands and enjoy myself. (1st year student, School of Commerce)

5.  < People > Waseda University student tackles "Educational Gap" by Involving high schoolers to run a café  (May 8, 2025)

I was deeply moved by their belief in the power of education and their actions. I also think it's great that they don't get hung up on the idea of a café, but always focus on the essence of things. I feel that being aware of disparities and having the courage to try to change them will gradually brighten the future. (1st year Master's student Graduate School of Commerce)

I thought it was a great idea to create a place where people can gain experience, rather than opposing the gap in experience due to family background. (Fourth-year School of Law)
