Waseda University, a top institution of higher education based in central Tokyo, has over 50,000 students in thirteen undergraduate and 21 postgraduate schools. It was founded on three principles: academic freedom, practical innovation and enlightened citizenship, with a mission of forming leaders. The University remains true to those ideals, producing seven prime ministers and countless other leaders in government, business, journalism, science, literature and the arts. Waseda is foremost in Japan for globalization, with almost 5000 international students, all-English curricula in six undergraduate and twelve postgraduate degree programs, and partnerships with over 700 prominent institutions in 77 countries.
More than 8,000 students from 125 countries and regions study at Waseda University. Close to 5,000 Japanese students study abroad at Waseda’s partner universities in 92 countries and regions. In addition, Waseda continues education and research exchange with more than 160 partner universities in the United States. We have built cutting edge international education programs, such as double degree programs and joint thesis advising programs for graduate students.
