なぜSSLとして応募したか Why I applied to be an SSL
私は「多様なバックグラウンドを持つ人々が同じ時を過ごし、心を通わせることが異文化理解につながる」ということをたくさんの人に伝えていきたいです。小さい頃参加した地域の国際交流イベントでアフリカのトーゴからきたミュージシャンの陽気な音楽に心が浮き立ち、いつの間にか参加者みんながステージに上がって踊っていたという大切な思い出があります。これをきっかけに様々な文化を持つ人たちと交流することが大好きになりました。これまでは参加する立場でしたが、今度は私が人と人をつなぐ架け橋になりたいという思いが芽生え、SSLに応募しました。
I would like to convey to many people that people from diverse backgrounds spending time together and communicating heart to heart leads to cross-cultural understanding. I have a precious memory of a local international exchange event I attended when I was little. My heart was lifted by the cheerful music of musicians from Togo, Africa, and before I knew it, all the participants were on stage dancing. This made me love interacting with people from different cultures. Until now, I had been a participant, but now I wanted to be a bridge between people.
SSLとして働くことへのやりがい Why I like being an SSL
ICCにはさまざまなバックグラウンドを持つ仲間がいます。一緒にお仕事をする中で、多様な考え方に触れ、日々自分の視野が広がっていると感じます。イベントでは参加者の方々が笑顔でコミュニケーションをしているのを見ると私もうれしくなります。ICCでお仕事ができることをありがたく感じています。
We have colleagues from a variety of backgrounds at the ICC. While working together, I am exposed to a variety of ways of thinking, and I feel that my horizons are expanding every day. At events, I am also happy when I see the participants communicating with smiles. I am grateful to be able to work at ICC.

When you hear the words “diversity” or “intercultural understanding,” it may seem difficult, but just try to be brave enough to talk to the person next to you. Becoming friends is the best way to understand different cultures!
