Experience Autumn through Wagashi ICC Japanese Culture Event (2023/10)

Poster

Wagashi (Japanese confectionery) has been widely enjoyed since the Edo period.

In Japan the four seasons are a big part of the culture. Did you know that there are wagashi unique to each season? The design, naming and materials used express the sense of each season, and you can feel the four seasons by looking at and eating wagashi,.

We have invited an instructor from Baikatei, a long-established shop in Kagurazaka, to hold a hands-on wagashi class. The master craftsman will teach you, so don’t hesitate to join even if it’s your first time!

We will be making a chrysanthemum by wrapping bean paste balls in colored dough. Participants can learn about traditional Japanese culture through the experience of making wagashi. After making the sweets, you can enjoy eating them while talking with each other and taking pictures!

If you are interested in traditional Japanese culture and Japanese sweets, or if you just have a sweet tooth, please join us!
