To start the 2023 Fall semester, the ICC will again offer the popular outdoor event, hiking at Mt. Takao!
Mt. Takao is incredibly popular, seeing 2.5 million climbers per year. It earns rave reviews from people all over the world and even has three stars in France’s Michelin Guide!
Mt. Takao has Yakuouin, the main temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, as well as a huge variety of nature: crystal-clear streams, 1600 species of plants, and over 100 different species of birds are found on the mountain. Have your phone or camera fully charged to capture the precious moments along the trail!
If you’re worried about making it to the summit, you can travel halfway up the mountain on Japan’s steepest cable car (31 degrees!), so even novice hikers can get to the top!
