Do you want to experience European coffee culture?
Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world. A cup of coffee reflects the unique culture of each country, such as unique brewing or drinking customs. In this event, we focus on coffee cultures of Europe, famous for having many historical cafe districts.
Together with Ms. Miki Iida, a researcher of European café culture, we will present an event where you can experience different cultures as if you were visiting a café in France, Italy or Austria. No specialized knowledge is required!
In addition, this event will be held at ROASTERY COFFEE, a café on campus where you can enjoy a professionally brewed cup.
Come enjoy a coffee break and intercultural exchange!
Guest: Ms. Miki Iida
While studying at Waseda and looking at social gatherings created by young people involved in environmental activities, she became interested in what constitutes a place for social change. As an exchange student at Institut dʼÉtudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), she learned that Parisian cafes were the starting point of social change, including the French Revolution. After returning to Japan, she continued her research and published a book, “Cafes are the Beginning of an Era.” Currently, she operates “World News Café,” a life-changing online English reading program where people can come into contact with and discuss knowledge from the world, just like the cafes of Paris and works as a French and English interpreter and guide for foreigners in Japan.
