なぜSSLとして応募したか / Why I applied to be an SSL
私は高校３年間をアイルランドのインターナショナルスクールで過ごしました。そこでの多様な背景・価値観を持った人々との交流はずっと日本で過ごしてきた当時の私にとって、非常に刺激的で楽しい時間でした。そういった異文化交流を多くの人に少しでも体験してほしいという思いで、ICCで学生スタッフに応募しました。
I spent three years at an international school in Ireland. I had spent all my life in Japan before that, so it was a stimulating and enjoyable time to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and values. I applied for the student staff at the ICC to encourage people to experience such intercultural communication as much as possible.

最近では各メディアなど、様々なところで”異文化理解”という言葉を目にするようになりました。そして、実際に異文化交流を経験することが、その第一歩だと私は思います。その重要な第一歩の手助けをイベントを通してできることにやりがいを感じます！
Recently, the term “intercultural understanding” has become a common in various media and other places. I believe that having actual experience of it is the first step. I find it rewarding to be able to assist in this important first step through holding events!
多様性・異文化理解について一言 / About diversity and cultural exchange
私も初めはそうでしたが、多様な文化・価値観を理解し、受け入れることは簡単なことではないですし、時には戸惑うこともあると思います。ただ、すぐにはできずとも、多様な価値観・文化に触れていくことで次第に受け入れられるようになるはずです。まずは、異文化に触れてみることから少しずつ始めていければいいと思います！
It is not easy to understand and accept diverse cultures and values, and sometimes it can confuse us. It was the same for me in Ireland at first. However, even if it is hard at first, you will gradually learn how to deal with diverse values and cultures as you come into contact with them. This is why it is great idea to start by experiencing different cultures little by little!
