Discover the Pearl of West Asia The music and poetry of love from Azerbaijan & Turkey ICC Music Night (2022/5/30)

Poster

We invite you to an evening of romance and inspiration.

Come join the journey to West Asia’s magnificent world of music and poetry with the ICC!

West Asia is a vast region, home to diverse cultures. However, the musical and poetical traditions are interlinked through profound similarities. With distinct melodies, rhythms and texts, the poetry and music all tell the same story of love, conveying the philosophical world that underpins how people in West Asia think and feel.

ICC has invited Dr. Polina and Mr. Ohira who are specialists in Azerbaijani and Turkish music, respectively. They will introduce to us the history and culture shared by Azerbaijan and Turkey, providing interpretations of music and verse from the region. Their live performances of Mugham and Bağlama will take you on a journey to experience the universe of love expressed in these arts.  You will also get the chance to try out these instruments after their performance.

If you are interested in West Asia and would like to learn more and experience the local culture, or if you want to enjoy some fascinating music after a busy day, join us and find the pearls of love on the strings of music and poetry together.
