What do you think about eating insects?
According to a United Nations study, a serious “protein crisis” is expected as early as 2030. To address the issues of food supply and environmental impact, insects, which are high in protein and rich in amino acids, are attracting attention as food for people.
At this event, we will welcome ecologgie inc, a pioneer in edible insect development, to talk about the potential of insects as food and their global efforts.

In addition, people have been eating insects for eons, and Waseda students who know that tradition will share their real-life knowledge of insects-as-food culture!
What’s more, participants can pick up a real insect-based food product from the ICC in advance so you can actually experience the latest developments and discuss your impressions in small groups!
See the forefront of a new food culture, one that reduces CO2 emissions and protects the environment just by eating it!
Whether you are interested in edible insects, intercultural exploration or SDGs issues, join us for this opportunity to address all of them!

Cooperation
ecologgie inc. is a startup producing insect-based food products, founded on research done at Waseda University in Japan. It aims to create a sustainable food future using crickets, a high-protein food with a light environmental footprint. ecologgie has established a network of small local cricket farms in Cambodia, where its business will directly link to improving their cash income. Expanding this system globally will help create a sustainable society where anyone can produce food anytime, anywhere.
