Hello, thank you for reading our description! Here are the reasons you should consider joining us:
1) It’s an amazing learning experience!! You can learn more about historical and current international affairs, and hone your researching and public speaking skills through committees. You can develop a broader, international perspective on global issues and realize your internal biases.
2) You can make lifelong friends here at MUN! You will meet like minded people that you might’ve not met during classes. Since making friends during class is harder now, we are here to help you make friends! We will still have online meetings and chats, so you will always have a place at MUNW, even if you can’t come to Waseda.
You will also have opportunities to meet students in other MUN groups, especially those in Tokyo. You can join conferences in other MUNs and make friends outside of MUNW.
3) We will strive to create a community free of discrimination and harassment with respect to your race gender, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, belief, sexual orientation, or age. We respect you for who you are and will not force you into doing things out of your comfort zone.
We have MUN conferences every two months, which gives you plenty of time to prepare and do things outside of MUN. Participation is optional, so you can choose what conferences you want to participate in based on your interests and availability. For our weekly meetings (which will be held online for the time being), we will do activities that will improve our negotiation skills and other skills that are important in MUN. Most of us started MUN in university, so if you’re new, don’t worry; we’ll be by your side every step of the way!
If you’re interested in world politics and/or history, want to build up confidence and improve your public speaking skills, and last but not least, want to enjoy your university life, we would love to meet you!!

- Special Event or Other Information:
*Some events were canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. Although model UN conferences are usually held face-to-face, some of them were held via zoom in 2020 and 2021.
*We use more Japanese than English in model UN conferences, so it is better you can speak Japanese (more than N3 level is desirable) so that you can enjoy our activities.
