Poster

Southeast Asia is host to a collection of countries rich in diversity.

As well as being a major tourist destination, things like Thai food and Vietnamese daily items have become fully integrated into Japanese daily life and make these countries feel much closer to people living here too.
Since 2015, ASEAN economic integration has seen the continuing merging of the regions’ markets and with a population of over 600 million people the ASEAN market is very attractive to business, with Japanese companies building bases in many ASEAN countries and increasing their business activities there.

Now at the ICC, we will welcome Mr. Hirotoshi Ito from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) where he is senior director for global strategy (Southeast Asia) for an online talk session on via Zoom.

Mr. Ito has worked for over 20 years in market research focusing on the Southeast and Southwest Asia region and support for Japanese companies entering those markets, he is currently engaged in coordinating business strategy formulation and implementation in Southeast Asia. Of course, within the same area there are multiple countries with differing languages, cultures, religions, trade customs and sets of values. So, understanding the local politics, economy and market trends is not always a simple task.
Mr. Ito will talk about how; in the midst of economic growth he has been able to connect Japan and Southeast Asian countries by overcoming the difficulties and risks that occur within differing cultural environments.

If you want to work abroad in the future, think you want to learn how the share the best of Japan with the rest of the world, or are just interested in Southeast Asia then don’t miss this great opportunity!

This is a great chance to hear about how ties are being built between Japan and Southeast Asia on the ground. Please come and join us!
