Mochitsuki (Rice Cake Making) @ Okuma Garden, Enjoy the Japanese New Year culture with “Yosakoi” (2019)

Would you like to try the traditional Japanese winter event Mochitsuki (rice-cake making) in Okuma Garden?
You can make the cakes using the kine (mallet) and usu (pestle), traditional tools on the day.
You can even get warm kenchinjiru (vegetable soup) with mochi inside for free!
(Limited availability, first come first served)
This year we will also have a special performance of traditional Japanese dance by the Yosakoi dance team “Tokyo Hanabi”.
Don’t miss out on this great Japanese cultural experience!

Waseda University’s Yosakoi dance team “Tokyo Hanabi”

The main features of our performance are the powerful male role dancers, and elegant female role dancers.
We will present two of our dance performances “Haikara” and “Hanakaruta”. Please come and see!! 🙂
