ICC English Discussion Cafe is an event where both undergraduates and graduates from all faculties, nationalities and cultural backgrounds have the opportunity to come together and discuss specific issues in English.
For this semester, the theme of the discussion is SNS.
SNS is increasingly influential in our daily life. Cute pictures of dogs on Instagram in the morning, fierce discussions about baseball on Twitter in the afternoon and searching for lost friends on Facebook in the evening: these have become familiar activities.
On the one hand, modern social networks may stimulate creativity, improve social relationships, drive the economy with a trillion-dollar-industry and provide people with more opportunities to express themselves.
On the other hand, concerns about smartphone addiction, causing a loss of interest in the real world, helping spread fake news and the loss of individual privacy along with other social problems are also crucial things to bear in mind.
For this event, we are collaborating with students from Tokyo Medical and Dental University which will make the discussion even more interesting.
Since students from various fields from both universities are attending, you will have the chance to hear many unexpected ideas and values.
Moreover, you don’t need professional knowledge regarding the topic, nor fluency in English.
If you want to practice expressing your thoughts in English, or discuss interesting topics with students from other universities, then please come and join the ICC English Discussion Cafe!
