Love reading? Book review game Bibliobattle@ICC (2016/11)

Have you ever read a book review in a magazine or seen one introduced on TV and then gone down to the bookstore to check it out?
Or had a book recommended to you by a friend or family member that you became interested in?

Book recommendations from other readers have a lot of power, the power to give you an image of a book before you’ve even read a word, and to tell you the most interesting parts about it.
Stronger than anything else is that feeling from a person of “I want to share with you why I love this book!”

Now, we have a place to show the strength of that feeling; the “Bibliobattle”!
A “Bibliobattle” is where the “battlers” (people introducing the books) introduce one of their favourite books, and the winner is whoever catches the interest of the audience the most with their introduction.
It’s fun, exciting and the rules are very simple!
1. Battlers choose a book they have read that they though was interesting.
2. Battlers, one by one, have five minutes each to introduce their book.
(plus three minutes for Q&A)
3.At the end is the audience vote; “Which book do you most want to read now?”
The one with the most votes is declared “The King of Books”!

Which book will be crowned “King of Books”? That’s up to you, the audience!
Now the ICC is holding Waseda’s first bibliobattle in English!
This is really going to be a massively exciting battle with battlers from all kinds of backgrounds coming together here at Waseda.
You don’t want to miss it!

During the second half of the event there will be a cafe-time with freshly-brewed Fairtrade coffee and interesting conversation about books.
Of course audience members can bring along books they’d like to recommend and talk about too!

People who want to find new books to read.
People who want to share their love of books with like-minded others, this is the event for you!
Please come and join us!
