Taehyung Jang
Center for Japanese Language (CJL)
Introduction
Greetings to all Waseda University students!
My name is Taehyun Jang, and I am a student from South Korea. During my time at Waseda, I had the pleasure of studying at the Center for Japanese Language (CJL).
Recently, I was fortunate to attend the “Product Ideation for Solving Social Issues: ICC Problem-Solving Workshop” hosted by the ICC. With a guest speaker from a renowned company leading the session, I joined the event with great anticipation, eager to gain valuable insights.
Before Attending…
I felt a bit apprehensive due to my limited Japanese proficiency and the prospect of meeting unfamiliar peers. However, Kotono-san, the event leader and MC, fostered a welcoming and comfortable environment, enabling all participants to engage wholeheartedly in the seminar.
During the Event
The guest speaker’s passion and thorough preparation left a lasting impression on me. His insights were both enlightening and thought-provoking. Additionally, the group project session provided a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with open-minded and driven students. While our group didn’t secure first place, the experience of exchanging ideas and working together was immensely rewarding and enjoyable.

Why ICC Events?
Of the many events at Waseda University, I would particularly recommend ICC events. Their well-organized website makes it easy to browse and register for activities that align with your schedule. Moreover, the chance to learn directly from guest speakers outside the academic setting is an invaluable aspect of these events.
Through this workshop, I was able to overcome initial anxieties and discover the power of collaboration and intercultural communication. This memorable experience is something I will cherish and carry forward.
Finally…
I hope many students take advantage of these wonderful opportunities, and I look forward to meeting you at a future ICC event. Thank you!
