Everyone will agree with me when I say that moving to a new country, even for just six months, takes a lot of courage. It’s not just about adapting to a different culture and language; it’s about leaving behind your familiar support system.
Joining an ICC event for the first time can feel just as daunting. You don’t know what to expect or who you’ll meet, but every person has a unique story and experiences to share. I remind myself of this before attending any new event: it takes bravery to step out of your comfort zone, but it also brings countless reasons to be proud of yourself.

ICC is an amazing space for students to connect, explore each other’s languages and cultures, and perhaps find lasting friendships—or at least some fun acquaintances to share a meal with!
What truly matters is the lovely memories we create during our time here. Engaging with others through ICC not only helps us grow as students but also as individuals. I know it can be intimidating to take that first step into an unfamiliar room, not knowing who you’ll meet. But trust me, if you don’t try, you’ll never know what incredible connections await you!
So don’t be afraid and come join the ICC events!
