I’m Kevin, a new international student who started the journey at Waseda University this semester. Although I haven’t explored the Waseda University campus that much, I stumbled upon this event, “ICC Campus Photo Adventure” which I found interesting, because this opportunity allowed the participants to discover important spots in Waseda while making new friends. For me, that’s a win-win, so I decided to participate in the event on 1st May.
The Event D-Day
The concept of the event itself is very novel because the participants were divided into teams to compete. There were objectives to clear for every team, such as taking photos of the designated spots on the campus and acquiring the most photos within the time limit to win against the other teams. With 20+ spots across Waseda and Toyama campuses, it was almost impossible to finish within the time limit.
I was assigned to Group 9 (we decided to use the group name “ぎゅうどん” (gyu-don), which literally translates to “beef bowl”), and I was very excited to participate in the event.

Unfortunately, the weather was rainy and a little windy, so we had to carry umbrellas everywhere while taking photos. Nevertheless, we still proceeded with the event and managed to take many photos despite the unfavorable weather. We even encountered other groups in the middle of the event!

We ended up taking 19 photos and returned within the time limit. Even though we lost to another team, we still had fun. Lastly, we exchanged SNS before the event ended to keep in touch with each other.

I personally want to thank the ICC for organizing this event. It was an excellent way for me to learn more about Waseda University’s spots and facilities while making new friends. If similar events are organized in the future, then I would highly recommend you to attend!
