As a student interested in economics, I am very grateful for ICC to provide us with a valuable chance to visit a real workplace, express our questions to seniors and receive thorough answers.
As for my feelings and comments about the visit to the Tokyo Stock Exchange and conversation with senior students at the Life Redesign College held by ICC, the visit and the conversation were totally fantastic and impressive, and allowed me to gain many new experiences and useful knowledge.

In the first part of the event, we visited the Tokyo Stock Exchange. We learned about the history of the Japanese stock exchange by watching a short video. Then we were guided through the interior of the building, listening to the narration from the guide. I was impressed by the fighting bull mascot, which has a similar pronunciation with the Japanese word for investment, as well as the circular screen and display that show the rise and fall of many kinds of stocks’ price. Also, there is a space for the media to make real-time reports of economic news. I was very pleased to see the words “Welcome to the Waseda University Intercultural Communication Center” on the display. All the facilities and decorations provided me with a glimpse of the atmosphere in the Tokyo Stock Exchange. I just couldn’t stop imagining the scene of my future workplace and my future career.

In the second part of the event, we went to Waseda University Nihonbashi Campus and had a chance to talk with students in the Life Redesign College (LRC). They really have rich life experiences and are studying how to plan for their later life. I learned a lot of meaningful and useful things by talking with them. Most of these excellent seniors were equipped with overseas study or work experience and ability to speak multiple languages. They were so kind, warmhearted and gave us a variety of valuable advice, such as taking internships to learn more about different careers in order to find an occupation which we really appreciate. Meanwhile, all the students I met in LRC are active and energetic, which was quite different from my expectation of people at that age and left a deep impression on me.
In addition, I also noticed that Japan is responding to the aging society and making relevant changes positively and timely. For example, the new industry like the LRC is beneficial to people for learning how to make their later life more meaningful and successful. The new supply of such industry generates new demand, and the new market such as education for later life is created. Therefore, in the near future, I am looking forward to see more new industries triggered by the progressive aging of society.
All things mentioned above are my feelings and returns from the event. Thanks to all the staff in ICC and I hope that I can take part in more events held by ICC.
