Currently I’m studying and conducting research about consumer psychology and people’s perceived well-being.
I am grateful that Waseda University has ICC, the Intercultural Communication Center, which organizes this English Chat Club. ICC carefully prepared some ice-breaking chat topics and small games for interaction. It lets us, who come from different countries and regions, are different ages, have different majors and different experiences, quickly get to know each other in a relaxed, pleasant and friendly way.
One person can walk faster. A group of people can go farther.

In the process of communicating with others, we can understand the differences and commonalities of people’s ideas, broaden our horizons, make people better understand themselves, discover and learn from the strengths of others, exercise communication skills that the listener can feel what we want to convey correctly. It’s a marvelous way to understand the culture and communication habits of Japanese society, and to live in a very international like Tokyo with a more inclusive and open mind.
What impressed me most was our supporter, Jim. He has working experience in the financial industry. He is very good at finding topics, enriching the content of the chat, and making the atmosphere cheerful. Once he even had a good chat with a student who was very shy and barely talked. I think he must have some magic.
Many times, students who also feel that they want to share more after 1.5-hour chatting at the ICC will go to dinner together and even go to a second place after. We were speaking a mix of Japanese and English, talking about our dreams and the future, reasons for making decisions. We encouraged each other and gained energy for life.
I am grateful to everyone I met in the ICC English Chat Club. I feel that I am the luckiest person. I will cherish this precious time in my heart.
