Did you know that Waseda has a deep connection with Jazz music?
The area around the university is dotted with jazz cafes, there are several prestigious jazz circles and the university has produced a number of famous jazz performers.
Jazz’s charm comes from the rhythm and light improvisation which in turn creates a casual atmosphere that everyone can enjoy. It’s a genre of music which you probably hear every day as background music, however the chances to hear a live performance are probably much less than you’d expect.
Now the ICC has invited the Jazz saxophonist known for her pink hair and stylish performances around the world; Yucco Miller to hold an event here at Waseda. Her amazing technique creates a strong contrast with her pop-style appearance and shows her true artistic talent.
She will talk about the secrets of her performances around the world and the cultural differences between jazz in Japan and overseas.
As well as that, we can announce that Yucco will perform songs from her 2nd album “SAXONIC”, the theme song from ‘Detective Conan’ and covers of songs by Kenshi Yonezu amongst others. The later part of the event will have mixing time, so you can freely talk and interact with the guests too!
If you want to know the secret to being globally active, to hear a live performance of international saxophone or to make new friends through a love of jazz then come along to this event. First time jazz listeners are also welcome!
There will be light snacks and drinks served too, so don’t miss out!
