The Faculty of Social Sciences established the Institute for Advanced Social Sciences on March 25 to build a stronger foundation for an integrated social science research.
At the institute, professors mainly from the Faculty of Social Sciences will work together with researchers and institutions within and out of Waseda to promote a comprehensive and international clinical research in the social sciences.
Through diverse specializations of the founding members and collaborative research projects, the institute’s mission is to meet the needs and demands of modern society and future generations. The institute aims to lead the social science field and open itself to the world. The Institute of Advanced Social Sciences plans to post information such as schedules for symposiums and research project results on the institute’s website.
A message from the director
The Institute for Advanced Social Sciences was founded as part of the affiliated research facility of the Faculty of Social Sciences in March 2016. This has been a long-held dream for the founding members who have wanted to implement a global, multidisciplinary clinical research in the field of social science. We hope the independently-conducted research will restructure its framework for more collaboration and transparency. Moreover, we would like to network with the whole Waseda community and institutions nationwide and around the world.
Due to the my responsibilities within the faculty governance, I will also serve as the Senior Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences. I have asked Professor Keiichiro Atsumi, who has led raising awareness in the issues of conventional research methods, will serve as the first associate director. He looks forward to actively encouraging research and strengthening public relations. The Faculty of Social Sciences would gratefully appreciate your support for the institute.
