The ICC English Discussion Cafe is a gathering where both undergraduates and graduates from all faculties and cultural backgrounds have the opportunity to come together and discuss important issues in English. For this semester, our collaboration event with Tokyo Medical and Dental University will be on the theme of “the problems created by mass consumption and disposal”.
In recent years, great strides have been made in the lifestyles of humans, becoming ever more luxurious and convenient with an abundance of things to support our lives. This has also brought an increase in the consumption and disposal of those things by people and mass consumption and mass disposal has in turn affected the environment and created huge global problems. What actions can we take to reduce waste and to protect the earth’s finite resources?
You will have a chance to discuss these issues with students not only from Waseda’s faculties of science and liberal arts, but also Tokyo Medical and Dental University’s schools of medicine and dentistry. You don’t need professional knowledge regarding the topic, nor fluency in English. If you want to practice expressing your thoughts in English, or discuss interesting topics with students from other universities, then please come and join the ICC English Discussion Cafe!
