What comes to your mind when you think about Korean food? Do you know which dish is the most popular in Shin-Okubo’s “Korean Town”? We often see many people lining up for Cheese Dak-galbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), and during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics the most loved food by the Olympic athletes was Haemul-pajeon (seafood and green onion pancake).
Now the ICC is giving you the chance to try cooking some of this hotly popular Korean food! No need to worry even if it is your first time cooking! A professional chef from Korea will teach you how to cook Cheese Dak-galbi and Haemul-pajeon which you can make easily by yourself at home too. It’s a great chance to experience feeling Korean culture in your own hands!
And that’s not all! There will also be presentations by students from the Waseda University Korean Students Association (WUKSA). They will give presentations about the differences in eating habits and table manners between Japan and Korea, such as the setting of cutlery and whether to pick up dishes (or not!) when eating. Even though the two countries are very close, there are actually a lot of differences, which you might notice next time you watch your favourite Korean drama! Come along and enjoy chatting about culture over Korean food.
