Attention! Photo loving Waseda students!
Have you ever taken a photo on holiday which you thought was really interesting or strange, that made you look at the world in a different way?
Each one of us can see the same places, things and moments and have a different view depending on our own background and culture.
And after all, it’s boring to only show your pictures to your friends!
By sharing photographs of our cultures with each other we become more aware of the everyday things in our own cultures which we often don’t notice. By becoming aware of these things we can not only see the differences in our own various cultures but perhaps more importantly the common points that we all share.
Waseda University is a truly “worldwide” university where students from all over the world gather together.
Using a “borderless” medium like photography we hope to promote cultural understanding between our students and to have fun doing it!
In this photo contest, the top 30 chosen photographs will be displayed at various places around campus, and the winning will receive a special prize of the camera that can take a picture of your whole surrounding in one shot:
The 360°camera “Ricoh THETA S”!

Program
October 19th- November 6th Dec. 1st Photo submissions
Submitted photos will be uploaded to ICC’s Facebook page continually.
November 15th-December 15th 5:00pm Facebook voting (via. likes).
From December 23rd Top 30 most “liked” photos and comments printed and displayed around campus.
January 12th 6:15pm Prize giving ceremony, results displayed on the ICC website.
*There is cafe-time after the prize giving ceremony

Submission Guidelines
-Submit your creative photo with a short comment essay by e-mail attachment to the below address:
-Photo Types：Unmodified digital photographs. Color or Monochrome is OK. Must be JPEG files.
-Comments：Within 150 English words (Or 250 Japanese Characters).

-Photo and Comments file names：Please name the files with your Student ID Number and name before submitting them to us.

The first time I came to Japan, I was so surpised that Japanese people keep standing on the left side of the escalator and leave a space for those who are in a hurry to walk, even though there is no rule about that.
Before coming here, I have known that Japanese people are very well- mannered, but their thoughtfulness really surprised me.
