Ha Long Bay – The UNESCO World Heritage Site, the elegant national costume known as the Ao Dai, the infamous Vietnam War and of course tasty Pho noodles with lots of coriander. These are all things that come to mind when we think about Vietnam. However more recently it has become known as one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia and has received large-scale infrastructural investment from developed nations such as Japan.
Even though awareness about Vietnam has been growing in recent years, many people still do not know much about the country’s modern culture as well as each individual region’s distinct traditions. In the ICC Vietnam Festival we hope you’ll get to know more about multicultural Vietnam where more than 50 ethnic groups live together!
On the day of the event there’ll be an opening speech from a distinguished Vietnamese minister working at the embassy and a presentation and quiz by Waseda’s own Vietnamese students.
Afterwards we’ll have songs, and even a Vovinam (Vietnamese Martial Art) Demonstration! Finally during the cafe exchange time you can relax and try some local snacks and coffee.
Drop by this festival and discover a new side of charming Vietnam!
