About Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai High School
Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai High School is a co-educational public high school established in 1989, the first high school in Tokyo which dedicated its whole curriculum to international understanding.
What is the Cross Cultural Understanding class about?
This course for the 3rd-year students (17-18 year-olds) is intended to foster understanding and respect for different countries, races, cultures and traditions. The class aims to promote a deep sense of humanity and to broaden the minds of students who share a desire to participate actively in international society.

Before Applying
- If you are in Japan on a student visa, you need to have permission to engage in activity other than those permitted by the status of residence to participate (details here).
- Participants are required to plan and prepare the lesson in consultation with the school in advance of the class date. Only apply if you are able to do so.
- Participants will be teaching a school lesson at a scheduled time, so dropping out of the program after selection or being late is not acceptable.
- Applicants are required to read and accept our Covid-19 Policies. Participants must take a Covid-19 Antigen test at home in the morning before visiting the school. ICC will provide a test kit to pick up at the Lounge.
- The school will provide an honorarium (details provided to selected applicants).
