I applied for GLFP to study political science in a top-level university in US and wished to study in Colombia or Georgetown. To be honest, University of Washington was not very favorable for me at first. However, well-developed STEM curriculum in UW and one of my roommates crazy about computer science made me major in informatics including statistics and machine learning. In addition, the West Coast was definitely more comfortable in terms of the weather. Having solid vision beforehand is one thing, but at the same time, I would like you to be flexible about what you will encounter in foreign environment and enjoy the unexpected.
As for the requirement for GLFP applicants, I believe those who join GLFP should appreciate philosophy of GLFP and willingly make a commitment to improve the curriculum and community. I am looking forward to seeing new inspiring people as GLFP family.
