Waseda University's data science education program uses a systematic curriculum centered around Certification Program in Data Science to ensure students' data science abilities and, by clarifying the goals to be achieved by each level, provides students with the opportunity to learn data science in a way that suits their individual interests.
Furthermore, in order for students to learn data science and be able to utilize it in society, it is important for them to gain practical experience in analyzing real data from companies, etc., by utilizing the knowledge of data science and the specialized fields they learn in their undergraduate and graduate schools.
To this end, Center for Data Science provides a variety of practical opportunities in cooperation with companies and faculties and graduate schools.
◆ Waseda University Data Science Competition
Center for Data Science holds the Waseda University Data Science Competition every year in collaboration with each faculty (an organization that includes undergraduate and graduate schools). This competition is open to all students of the university, including graduate students.
Participants form teams of 2-4 people, spend several months analyzing a theme given to them each year, and then present their findings at a report meeting.
◆ Industry-academia collaboration career education programs and educational internships
In recent years, it has become clear that society and various companies need to hire and train personnel who can utilize data.
Waseda University is working with companies and other organizations that support the goal of cultivating talent capable of utilizing data science in society through industry-academia collaboration, to provide opportunities to analyze and utilize actual data from companies and other organizations.
By using the knowledge and skills learned in the data science education program to analyze and utilize data actually used by companies and other organizations, students can acquire practical knowledge and skills and find future learning goals to further deepen their learning.
It will also be an opportunity to think about your own career development by interacting with people working for companies etc.
