Alumni Miyabi Onitsuka Informally Selected to Represent Japan in the Snowboard Slopestyle and Big Air at Beijing 2022

On January 19, the Ski Association of Japan announced their informal selection for those who will participate in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, and Waseda University Alumni Miyabi Onitsuka (affiliated with Hoshino Resorts Inc., graduated from the School of Sports Sciences in 2021) has been chosen.

Onitsuka has been chosen to represent Japan in two events: the Snowboard Slopestyle and Snowboard Big Air.

This will be her second consecutive Olympic Winter Games, following her participation at PyeongChang 2018 while she was still enrolled at the university.

Miyabi Onitsuka

Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1998. Graduated from the Waseda University School of Sports Sciences in 2021. Participated in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games and came eighth in the Women’s Snowboard Big Air. Won the bronze medal in the women’s snowboard big air at the International Ski Federation Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in 2021.
