One of the joint projects of our institute, “Study Group of the UK Corporate Law” (2006-2013) published “The UK Companies Act 2006 – Analysis and Translation -” in December 2017 from Seibundo Publishing. The study group had been translating the 2006 Act and had published the results in our journal, “Comparative Law Review” from 2008 to 2012. This book is the updated and expanded version of what they had translated.
It is necessary to study the UK Companies Act because the act not only operates in the UK, which itself is economically important to Japanese business, but also provides the model of company laws for other countries, some of which are very relevant for legal and tax issues, including Australia and Cayman Islands. Thus the publication will provide a valuable basis for Japanese legal practitioners as well as students of corporate law.
