【Abstract】
After receiving his doctorate in Germany, Dr. Wolfgang Pape joined the European Commission as a diplomat, where he was involved for many years in the EU’s foreign policy and served for long periods in East Asia, including at the Delegation of the European Union to Japan. After retiring from the European Commission, drawing upon his rich experience, Dr. Pape published Opening to Omnilateralism, which calls for omnilateralism in global governance. Based on this book, this lecture aims to introduce Dr. Pape’s concept of omnilateralism to the Japanese audience, and to exchange opinions with Japanese researchers and practitioners interested in global governance.
