Waseda’s Efforts for Globalization Highly Evaluated through the University Ranking
Thu, Jul 4, 2013We are pleased to announce that Waseda University ranked 44th in “QS University Rankings: Asia 2013”. Looking at the ranking by category among Japanese universities, Waseda ranked top in “Outbound Exchange”; ranked 6th in “Academic Reputation” following the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Tohoku University; and ranked 3rd in “Employer Reputation” following the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University. Waseda’s research intensity was evaluated as “VH (VERY HIGH) “.
We believe such high objective evaluation is attributable to Waseda’s steady and voluntary reforms in response to globalization.

Last year, Waseda University formulated a mid-to-long-term plan “Waseda Vision 150”, which looks into its 150th anniversary in 2032. The plan sets a specific numerical target; increasing 1) the international students studying at Waseda from 4,362 to 10,000 and 2) Waseda student studying abroad from 2,399 to the whole number of students. By realizing the target, Waseda will further promote globalization under the title of “A Commitment to the World as an Asia’s Leading University”
