Waseda University extends its most sincere sympathy to all who have suffered from the earthquake.
In response to this catastrophic disaster, the University has prepared two support programs; “tuition reduction/exemption according to the status of damages” and “urgent/emergency scholarship programs by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)”.
If you are in need of our support, please take the application procedures described below.
If it turns out that the house of your guarantor or your school fee payer has been severely damaged by this disaster or if their status of income has significantly changed, you can apply for tuition reduction/exemption.
Please consult with the office of your affiliated graduate/undergraduate school and submit the required documents (please refer to the attached application form).
* If it is difficult to prepare all of the required documents, please submit the application form first, so that the University can offer an extension of the tuition payment for the first (spring) term of AY2011.
(As the University will make the best effort to accommodate your needs according to your situation, please consult with the office of your affiliated graduate/undergraduate school as soon as you can.)
Aomori Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Akita Prefecture, Yamagata Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, and Niigata Prefecture
* Application from other prefectures will be acceptable if you have suffered since the earthquake on Mar. 11.
If you have been affected by the disaster in the area where the Disaster Relief Law has been applied (or the surrounding area) and your household income has changed suddenly (considerable increase in expenses or decrease in income), you can apply for the urgent/emergency scholarship programs offered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
