We would like to extend our deepest sympathy and profound condolences to all those affected by the Tohoku earthquake and subsequent disaster. Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time and we pray for the safety and soonest recovery of the affected areas.

Since the earthquake, Waseda University and Waseda University Alumni Association have expressed concern over the safety and whereabouts of Waseda’s disaster-struck students, alumni, and relevant parties.

After the devastating earthquake, Waseda University wasted no time setting up headquarters to deliberate best possible relief measures for the current students and new entrants who are facing hardship in continuing their education due to the disaster. As part of its efforts, Waseda University and Waseda University Alumni Association have launched donation drives as follows:

Emergency relief money is being accepted to support Waseda students (including new entrants). Your contributions will be used to support various relief efforts rendered to students affected by the disaster.

Waseda’s faculty, staff, and students are reaching out to the affected areas through their monetary donations via collection boxes located on campus or via designated bank account established by the University. The contributions will be forwarded to the Japanese Red Cross Society after the donation period.

Waseda University Alumni Association is accepting relief money to assist Waseda students and alumni ravaged by the earthquake.
