Fri, Mar 18, 2011To All New Students of AY2011 (to Enroll in Undergraduate Schools, Graduate Schools, Intensive Japanese Language Program, and Art and Architecture School)
Waseda University expresses its most sincere condolences to all victims in the recent earthquake and subsequent disaster. It is our earnest hope that all who have suffered from the disaster will be able to live quiet and peaceful lives as soon as possible.
The University has carefully examined the current circumstances, such as the continuing aftershocks since the earthquake and the irregular public transportation services due to the scheduled rolling blackout, and reached to a painful decision to call off all the AY2011Entrance Ceremonies.
In view of these circumstances, Waseda University also announces to reschedule the class period for AY2011 first (spring) semester. The commencement of classes has been changed from April 6 to May 6, and the end date from August 2 to August 4. Each school will send documents including further details such as freshman guidance and course registration period/procedure by post in due course.
Changed Dates for AY2011 First (Spring) Semester:
Please note that schedules at some graduate/undergraduate schools (e.g. Waseda Law School) may differ.
For students who are to enter in AY2011 and have suffered from the earthquake, Waseda University has prepared a special support program including tuition reduction/exemption and postponement of the entrance to the University. It is strongly encouraged to consult with the International Admissions Office as soon as possible.
Various efforts are underway so that all new students, including those who have been affected by the disaster, can start their fulfilling campus lives at Waseda University. Please rest assured while you look forward to the beginning of the semester.
