The Aizu Museum is currently hosting an exhibition that focuses on representations of humans in art, featuring works from the Tomioka Collection.
There is an abundant amount of works on display including ceramics, zen paintings and writings, contemporary and modern works, archeological works, and Buddhist art. Terracotta clay figures make their first reappearance in seven years and other works are on display for the first time.
Professor Kyoko Asai who will retire at the end of this month organized the exhibition. On March 5, many visitors came to hear a special gallery talk session from the professor. We encourage everyone to visit the exhibition and learn more about the many diverse depictions of humans over the centuries.
