Waseda University now accepts credit card for tuition payments from international students. Up until now there have been several universities that accept credit card for entrance examination fees and admission fees, but few for tuition payments.

Presented by Opt Japan, this service targets international students who wish to pay for tuition fees and admission fees overseas. The payment process for international students has been complicated, requiring use of multiple financial institutions resulting in various service charges. Accepting credit card for tuition fees simplifies the payment process and improves efficiency and convenience for international students and the university.

Payments are carried out through Opt Japan’s website, allowing 24-hour access from anywhere in the world.

*This credit card payment service is available on a case-by-case basis upon consultation with the student’s academic department or research center. Service fees are incurred when paying with a credit card and is therefore more expensive than payment through a Japanese bank account. Students may not be permitted to pay with a credit card if they already have a Japanese bank account.
