Waseda has been selected to coordinate ETP 28-30, the EU-sponsored Executive Training Programme.
Mon, Jan 21, 2013On Thursday, January 10, ETP 28 Opening Ceremony and Reception was held at the Delegation of the European Union to Japan in conjunction with the acceptance of the 28th batch of participants in the Executive Training Programme (ETP) sponsored by the European Union.
Established in 1979, this more than 30-year-old professional development program is designed for European business professionals aimed at expanding their business into the Japanese marketplace. Beginning this January, Waseda University will be spearheading ETP 28-30, as it did with ETP 25-27 (2006-2010) .
President Kaoru Kamata said in his opening speech that he hopes the trainees will learn more about Japan and further their knowledge in the professional field as they benefit from the quality program. He also discussed his expectation that the participants will go on to take on important roles in bridging EU and Japan.

Ceremony participants
During the ceremony, welcome speeches were delivered by Mr. Hans Dietmar Schweisgut, Ambassador of the EU to Japan, Mr. Shinichi Yokoyama, Co-Chairman of the Keidanren Committee on Europe, and Mr. Michael Loefflad, Representative Director and President of Wuerth Japan Co., Ltd.
A total of 31 business professionals affiliated with businesses in the EU nations constitute the 28th batch. These participants are scheduled to take business and language training course at Waseda University from January to July, take part in internship with Japanese firms from August to October, and complete the program in November 2013.
