2014 Fall Entrance Ceremonies – Honorary Doctorate presented to Korea University President Kim Byoung-chul

Waseda University conducted its Fall 2014 Entrance ceremonies on September 21 in the historic Okuma Auditorium. The University welcomed 349 new undergraduate students and 543 graduate students. They included 704 international students, from the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as Senegal, India, Laos, Nepal, Ukraine, Lebanon, Israel, Mongolia, Tahiti and many other parts of the world.
President Kaoru Kamata welcomed the new students, charging them to, “on your own initiative, take advantage of the academic and cultural resources and excellent facilities built up over Waseda University’s long history, working steadily towards your own goals. As represented by our founding principles, we wish for you to find close friends and rivals to accompany and motivate you along the long path to achieving those ideals.”
In addition, Waseda presented its Honorary Doctor of Science degree to Professor Kim Byoung-chul, the 18th president of Korea University.

The ceremonies were closed with singing of the alma mater, led by the Cheering Team and the Waseda Bear mascot.
