Research Topic

The Cult of Chinggis Khan : Immortalizations of the Lost Empire

I am writing a book on the history of the Chinggis Khan shrine and its custodians. The primary sources for this project span the usual textual corpus for the study of Mongolian history, but also include the liturgies of the Cult of Chinggis Khan, also called the “Altan Bichig,” as well as previously seldom used archival sources. I am also using methods of Digital Humanities to organize and analyze the archival sources from the Qing Empire (1634-1911 in Ordos).
